After School Involvement

PR KEY CLUB SPONSOR

Starting in the 2022 school year I became the sponsor of PRHS KEY Club which is a service organization in which more than 100+ students at PRHS are members.  This increased community engagement and learning outside of the classroom while building relationships with their peers and members of the community.

Check out the images below for some events we held or check out the club's Instagram @prkeyclub

KEY Club Sponsored Shelterbox with the help of the Pine Mar Rotary!

Key Club worked with the local Pine Mar Rotary Club to host Shelterbox - an organization that provides temporary housing to those in natural or manmade disasters like the war in Ukraine.  Students set up a Shelterbox outside of the cafeteria and educated their peers on the program and issues facing the globe.

Mini Thon/FTK Club Collaboration

KEY Club partnered with other clubs in the school as well to continue to make positive change within the community.  At the February KEY Club meeting members of Mini Thon/FTK (For the Kids) worked together to create cards for Children with special needs at the Squirrel Hill Institute.  They made cards and added stickers to send off to brighten their day!

ANIMAL ADOPTION POSTER - COMMUNITY (4) (2).pdf

Animal Rescue Event - April 22

Students planned an event with the Butler Humane Society and PetCo where they promoted and educated the community on adoption and raised funds to get more animals adopted. Throughout the year students have been volunteering, creating animal toys, and planning the event. Students created donation bins and posters as well as set up and held the event.  They had raised over $700 for the Butler Humane Society while also working with the Pine Mar Rotary and the Kiwanis Club to promote their event.

World War II Footlocker

Additionally during the 2022 school year I attended a Social Studies teacher conference where a team decided to put together a primary source locker box for students to use and allow history to come to life. I was part of a team that received a fast grant to fund this project for $1,000.  I also had collected materials that were donated to the school (World War II Sergeant jacket, jeep cap, silver ware, shirts, pants, caps etc..) from antique shops.

I created the poster to the left to assist with student engagement with the materials.

Best Buddies Fundraiser

In this fundraiser students stayed after school to raise money for the Best Buddies club.  I chaperoned students playing corn hole and competing in tournaments.  At the end, the students were able to pie a teacher in the face for a fundraiser.

Homebound Instruction

Starting January 30, 2023 I have begun homebound instruction for students 5 hours a week.  In doing this I tutor students that are unable to attend school and ensure that they are learning and meeting state requirements.  I have tutored students in Math, Spanish, English and History.  This is individualized instruction and support through Pine Richland School District.

Bocci Score Keeper + Basketball Tickets + Dodgeball

Whenever possible I love to volunteer throughout the school and see what ways that I can get involved.  I have volunteered to score keep at our local Bocci tournaments for students and I also volunteer to collect tickets at the Basketball games.  I have also played in an assembly on the faculty basketball and dodgeball teams.

Dance Chaperone

I have also volunteered to chaperone the PRHS Homecoming dance and I have also chaperoned their winter form dance. This I believes allows students to see that I am invested in the community.

Mini Thon

Mini Thon is an club in which students hold a school wide event to raise money for children with cancer in the tri-state area.  I have had the pleasure of attending this and supervising this event.  There was a dunk tank, dancing, trivia, and many more activities for the students to take part in all for a good cause.

Graduation 2022

I attended Pine Richland's graduation on  June 10, 2022. I had been able to support my senior students that I had watched learn and grow over the last few months graduate into the next phase of their lives.  I also plan on attending the 2023 graduation as many of my students from last school year are graduating this year and even a few from this year.
